You are spot on in linking worker health and safety problems to the greed of those who wield power: in neoliberal society, predatory capitalists. This is the political context in which we all work and this is why it is so hard to make progress. We should never forget this. That is why a book like Ingrid Robeyns – “Limitarianism, – The Case Against Extreme Wealth” is so important.

At the same time OHS professionals and worker representatives need to find ways to insert themselves into their daily world in such a way as to make a difference. It can be so disheartening, but the story of rollover protection on quad bikes, and more recently, the bans of engineered stone show that progress is possible.
