Yes change is definitely needed; yes there are issues in labour hire but also in business generally (consider the 7-11 delis scenario of the last 12 months) but yes we can really only get something done if the politicians consider the cross legislative changes that impact other areas and for once in their lives- do it properly.

Some of the ideas and powers suggested are akin to powers of the Anti corruption commissions, some are already provided for under OSH and similar legislation, while some quite frankly are overboard unless we are going to continue down a path that has the Law Reform Commission seriously concerned and that is the continued erosion through legislation of individuals rights, like the right to the presumption of innocence until proven guilty but by a court, the requirement of the prosecution to prove that guilt beyond a reasonable doubt to the satisfaction of the court.

Very difficult kettle of fish for the Commission to satisfy everyone here!
