RAT is just one tool in a number of tools that can be used as a part of a strategy to help reduce the introduction of Covid-19 into the workplace. It should be not considered as a replacement for PCR testing, nor should it be considered a means of getting around ensuring workers are vaccinated.

In September 2021 TGA introduced the COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Tests – Guidance and checklist for businesses. It raises a number of questions, of who is going to administer the tests, who is supervising the process and what other precautions are being taken to prevent the introduction of Covid-19 into the workplace. The problem as I see it is that unless regulated by the governments, businesses will take matters into their own hands and start importing RAT and implementing them in a manner to which serves nobody.
