Agree with your summary of the conference. If Safety Professionals are to be taken seriously by business they need to demonstrate that we not only understand the business requirements but also the expectation placed upon us by the broader community, and to only run a conference where there is no conflict of ideals or ideas cannot be conducive to our growth as a professional group.
The conference achieved it aim of getting more people onside with the feel that we could become a power or influencer but until it starts to happen our profession will have limited power at the re coal face.

You are right to point out the absence of speakers from SWA and the unions.
The name might be changed but the bias remains.
